Founder’s Legacy – Mr. Mansha Abbasi

Mr. Mansha Abbasi — A Lifetime of Service to Humanity

The origins of Anjuman Takmeel-e-Maqasid-e-Insania (ATMI) – which translates to “The Association for the Fulfillment of Humanitarian Objectives” – trace back to the profound vision and unwavering commitment of its founder, Mr. Mansha Abbasi – a respected community leader and social development pioneer from Phagwari, Tehsil Murree – who established the organization in 1992. With deep roots in the community and a heart dedicated to service, Mr. Abbasi embarked on a lifelong mission to improve the lives of the underserved, particularly in the remote and rural areas of Tehsil Murree.

In 1992, Mr. Abbasi laid the foundation of ATMI with a clear and compassionate purpose: to address the pressing socio-economic challenges facing underserved communities in Murree and surrounding regions. Witnessing firsthand the struggles of families lacking access to basic education, healthcare, clean water, and sustainable livelihoods, he was inspired to act.

The name Anjuman Takmeel-e-Maqasid-e-Insania embodies the organization’s mission:

  • Anjuman: A collective platform uniting individuals with a shared purpose.
  • Takmeel: The fulfillment or realization of meaningful goals.
  • Maqasid: Objectives or principles guiding social development and justice.
  • Insania: Humanity—at the core of every initiative and intervention.

This philosophy served as the foundation of Mr. Abbasi’s lifelong service—advancing human dignity, social equity, and community empowerment.

His Enduring Contributions

Under his leadership, ATMI implemented impactful, community-based development initiatives including:

  • Establishing vocational training centers for women in partnership with UNICEF and the Rural Development Department.
  • Promoting hygiene and sanitation by constructing latrines in underserved areas.
  • Installing over 70 hand pumps (1992–1996) to provide clean drinking water.
  • Introducing alternative energy solutions to combat deforestation and improve rural livelihoods.
  • Engaging in reforestation and eco-tourism initiatives in collaboration with national and international partners.

Mr. Mansha Abbasi was not only a leader but a mentor, role model, and tireless advocate for human dignity. He remained actively involved in every initiative, often working directly with beneficiaries to ensure that ATMI’s interventions were both relevant and respectful of local needs.

Even as his health declined, his commitment to serving humanity never wavered. Until his final days, he remained at the forefront of the organization’s efforts — guiding, inspiring, and nurturing the next generation of changemakers.

Continuing His Legacy

Today, ATMI stands as a living legacy of Mr. Mansha Abbasi’s life, values, and vision – working tirelessly to uplift the marginalized, promote sustainable development, and fulfill the humanitarian objectives. His profound impact continues to shape our work as we strive to uphold his principles of compassion, inclusion, sustainability, and empowerment.

We honour his memory not only through words but through continued action — by carrying forward the mission he so passionately began over three decades ago.
